CC Sheth College of Commerce marks National Statistics Day with quiz and poster competitions

Students explore the role of statistics in research, business, and evidence-based decision-making through interactive competitions

Ahmedabad, July 2, 2026: CC Sheth College of Commerce, part of Navgujarat Group of Colleges in Ahmedabad, observed National Statistics Day by organising a quiz competition and a poster competition. India celebrates National Statistics Day on June 29 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, recognizing his pioneering contributions to statistical development and economic planning.

The programme brought together more than 30undergraduate and postgraduate students from the institute. The quiz tested the participants’ abilities in statistics, data analysis and practical applications of statistics in day-to-day life. Poster Competition encouraged students to creatively present the role of statistics in decision-making, economic planning and daily life.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Dipti Bhavsar, Head of the Department of Statistics, and Dr Kuljeet Kaur, Assistant Professor of Statistics, threw light on the importance of statistics in business management, research, governance and evidence-based decision-making. They encouraged students to strengthen their statistical and analytical skills to meet the evolving demands of data-driven industries and academic research.

The programme concluded with the announcement of winners in both competitions, followed by a vote of thanks. Diksha B Rajput from B.Com Semester 3 was declared the winner of the quiz competition, while Pasi Radhika from M.Com Semester 3 was announced as the winner of the poster competition.
