Ahmedabad School Bomb Threat Updates — Schools Named as Targets Ahead of Republic Day

Ahmedabad, Gujarat — January 23, 2026: Multiple Ahmedabad schools received bomb threat emails on Friday morning, prompting urgent security responses from police, bomb disposal squads, crime branch units, and canine teams. The threats came just days before Republic Day (January 26), raising alarm among parents, teachers, and authorities.

According to police and media reports, several prominent Ahmedabad schools received bomb threat emails, leading to precautionary dismissals and thorough campus checks:

  • Saint Kabir School (multiple branches) — Ahmedabad
  • St Xavier’s School — Ahmedabad
  • DPS Bopal — Ahmedabad
  • Kalorex Future School — Ghatlodia, Ahmedabad
  • Swayam School — Vastrapur, Ahmedabad
  • (Earlier incidents include other schools such as)
    • Zydus School of Excellence — Vejalpur
    • Zebar School for Children — Thaltej
    • Maharaja Agrasen Vidyalaya — Gurukul Road
    • DAV International School — Makarba
    • Nirman School — Vastrapur
Note: Those additional schools were part of prior bomb threat waves reported in December 2025, showing a concerning pattern of similar hoax emails earlier in the city.

Early on Friday, threatening emails claiming bombs were planted on campus were received by school administrations. In each case, the school management alerted police immediately and informed parents to pick up children early as a precautionary measure. Security forces — including the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, Special Operations Group (SOG), Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), dog squads and fire services — conducted thorough searches across classrooms, grounds, and surrounding areas for any suspicious items. No credible explosives or devices have been found so far. Ongoing investigation efforts are focused on tracing the origin of the emails and identifying suspects.

Parents rushed to school campuses upon receiving calls and messages from school authorities, creating scenes of concern although authorities maintained calm and assured safety measures were in place.

Police have appealed to the public not to spread rumors or unverified information on social media, stating that all necessary protocols are being followed to protect students and staff.

Ahmedabad has experienced similar bomb threat emails in recent months, with prior incidents earlier in late 2025 involving many of the same schools and others across the city. In those cases, police teams also conducted extensive sweeps and found no evidence of actual explosive devices — indicating a pattern of likely hoax threats that authorities are investigating.
