“Bhagavad Gita – Saying It The Simple Way” by Vijay Singal, book launched in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, 20th December, 2018: Mr. Vijay Singal, a former bureaucrat and an eminent author in the field of spirituality, philosophy, psychology, religion and culture today launched his book on Bhagavad Gita at Ahmedabad Management Association. Mr. Singal who writes both in Hindi and English languages has written this book also in Hindi and English in a Simple, straight forward and easy to understand language.

While unveiling the book in presence of Mr. Atul Bharadwaj, Mr. Singal shared, “  This book has been presented in a most contemporary style, more as a self-help book and a compilation of practical wisdom and   Simultaneous translation of each shloka in two languages helps the readers in better understanding. We have also taken care that difficult words and ideas have been explained by putting short elaborations in brackets, in the shlokas themselves. While doing so, every care has been taken to ensure that the exact meaning and real intent of the shlokas is not compromised with.

Mr. Atul Bharadwaj, who has co authored a few books with Mr. Vijay Singal, shared , “ The shlokas in this book have been presented in such a manner that no further commentary or explanation of the indiviual shlokas or the text as a whole is required. Thus, instead of being influenced by the presonal views of various commentators,  the reader can for himself try to understand the different ideas propounded in this sacred book.  Placing of only two shlokas (simultaneous Hindi and English translation) on one page makes the book an easy reading. I also congratulate Mr. Singal that excellent photographs, mostly based on nature, have been placed quite appropriately.”

Vijay Singal, during the discussion emphasised that in today’s world of cut-throat competition, the teachings of Bhagavad Gita are of great relevance as this great philosophical treatise describes graphically the truth behind existence, ultimate purpose of life; and also various means of achieving materialistic success and spiritual fulfilment.

Like he shares, “While advising Arjuna to perform his assigned duty selflessly, Lord Krishna has discussed various means of self-realisation such as Karma Yoga, Gyan Yoga, Dhyan Yoga.  But the path, which according to Him, is most simple and effective is the path of devotion (bhakti yoga).  Complete and unconditional surrender before the Supreme certainly leads to complete peace of mind. The message of Gita is not sectarian in nature. its teachings apply equally to everyone, without any distinction of gender, cast or creed.” None of the paths of self-realisation suggested by Gita is claimed to be exclusive.  Krishna says assuringly, “All paths lead to Me.” Depending upon one’s nature and circumstances one can choose any one or more of the means of salvation.  Nothing is thrust upon the gullible. The Supreme Lord, in fact, tells Arjuna, in the end (shloka 18.63) : “I have thus explained to you this wisdom, which is more secret than all secrets. Think about it seriously, and then do as you wish.” Thus, leading an aware, balanced, active and dedicated life is the mantra given to mankind by the Supreme Lord.

This book was earlier launched at New Delhi by Bollywood Super Star Akshay Kumar.
