BJP SC Morcha Condemns Jignesh Mevani’s Remarks Against PM Modi; Announces Statewide Protest Until Apology

The Gujarat BJP Media Department stated in an official release that a press conference was held today at Shri Kamalam under the chairmanship of Shri Gautambhai Gediya, President of the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha, regarding the abusive and inflammatory language being used by leaders of the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party over the past several days.

Shri Gediya told the media that Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani has repeatedly used objectionable language for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “This language does not reflect Gujarati culture. I strongly denounce the language used by Mevani for the Prime Minister. His statements tarnish the dignity of democracy,” he said. “This kind of insult has always been a Congress policy rooted in family politics. Congress cannot digest the personality of a leader who has been honored by 32 countries.”

He further said, “The verbal attack on the Prime Minister is a grave insult to the dignity of his office, an insult to the entire state of Gujarat, and an insult to a mother. This cannot be tolerated. Jignesh Mevani has disgraced the dignity expected from an elected MLA.”

Questioning Mevani’s performance, Shri Gediya asked, “What development work have you done in your constituency? How many women have benefitted from government schemes? How many households have you helped under health schemes? Instead of development, Mevani has opened a shop of hatred. Every morning he starts politics of division. His words are filled with bitterness and contempt.”

He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has constantly worked to ensure development reaches the last person in society. “Mevani should once talk about how many people he has helped in his constituency,” he said. “Freedom of speech does not mean the freedom to insult someone’s mother. By using such words for the Prime Minister, you have insulted Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as well.”

The BJP demanded that Mevani must apologize for insulting the Prime Minister and his mother. “Until he apologizes, Scheduled Caste Morcha leaders will hold protest programs across the state.”

Shri Gediya also highlighted incidents of atrocities against Dalits in Vadgam constituency, questioning Mevani’s silence. He added that a recently viral audio clip suggests that Mevani prioritizes protecting his vote bank over standing for the rights of Dalits.

He further said that Mevani’s statements seem like an attempt to finish off what is left of the Congress party by taking “contractual instructions from a party in Delhi.” “Politics of hatred and minority appeasement will never succeed in Gujarat. Congress should focus on development issues,” he said.

Prominent leaders present at the press conference included State Media Convener Dr. Yagneshbhai Dave, SC Morcha General Secretaries Shri Vikrambhai Chauhan and Shri Devendrabhai Verma, and SC Morcha Vadodara President Shri Harshadbhai Parmar.
