Bonded doctors of Gujarat ordered to report for duty in wake of Covid crisis

If doctors do not appear by tomorrow, action will be taken under the Epidemic Act

With rising Covid cases in Gujarat, number of beds are being increased by state government and In such a situation additional manpower is required. Gujarat health commissioner Jai Prakash Shivahare has ordered bonded candidates of government medical colleges and GMERS medical college to appear immediately. As per this order, 513 government medical colleges of the state, 136 government medical colleges of the state and 593 candidates GMERS of state have been sanctioned as medical officer class-2.

As per the order issued by state medical education services commissioner Jai Prakash Shivahare, there is a shortage of manpower for treatment of Covid 19 patients and there is an urgent need for doctors in case of emergency.


The state government has taken a series of steps for that when it arises. As per this order, if the bonded doctors do not appear at their place of appointment by 26-04-2021, all the District Collectors and Municipal Commissioners have been instructed to take action under the provisions of Section-3 of the Epidemic Act.
