Cases of Covid-19 have hardly subsided in Gujarat and India, and now Dengue and Chikungunya cases have increased in Ahmedabad city causing worry to the state administration, health department and people of Ahmedabad and Gujarat.
Daily there are approximately 150 patients in OPD at Sola Civil Hospital due to spread of viral infections.
Death toll in private hospital rose to 25 in August and 15 in September respectively. In the last three months, 40 people have died in 160 hospitals under AHNA Ahmedabad Hospitals & Nursing Homes Association.
Both viral infections spread by the Aedes mosquito (in contrast to the Anopheles mosquito, which is associated with malaria). However, they are caused by different forms of virus; chikungunya is caused by a Togaviridae alphavirus, while dengue is caused by a Flavirideae flavivirus.
