Ahmedabad: Serious concerns have been raised over food safety at the canteen of Anand Niketan School in Ahmedabad after a parent alleged that a piece of glass was found in food served to her child.
According to the parent, the child allegedly swallowed the glass piece, following which medical evaluation has become necessary and the child may now have to undergo an endoscopy.
In a video shared by the parent, she claims that the glass fragment was found in the food and that a photograph of the suspected glass piece was taken. However, she alleges that despite the incident being brought to the authorities’ attention, no immediate or effective action was taken.
The parent further claims that, according to the child, food continued to be served from the canteen even after the suspected glass fragment was discovered.
Expressing her anguish, the parent questioned why the responsibility for the child’s suffering was not being taken seriously. She alleges that despite assurances and commitments made earlier, she was eventually told, “Sorry ma’am, we cannot do anything.”
The parent also claims that she was told that the matter had been “misplaced,” leaving the family frustrated and concerned about the lack of accountability.
The incident has raised serious questions about food safety standards, quality checks and the response mechanism followed by the school and canteen authorities after a potentially hazardous object is reportedly found in food served to students.
The immediate concern for the family, however, remains the child’s health. According to the parent, the child is now facing a medical procedure because of the alleged ingestion of the glass fragment.
If the allegations are substantiated, the incident could raise questions about whether appropriate food-safety protocols were followed and whether necessary preventive measures were taken immediately after the complaint.
