Without Visiting a Police Station More Than Rs. 15.76 Lakh Saved for the Complainant Who Registered the State’s First ‘e-Zero FIR’
Gandhinagar, 27 July 2026 : To provide faster, simpler, and more effective justice to victims of cyber financial fraud, the Government of Gujarat has launched the ‘Cyber Financial Fraud e-Zero FIR’ service. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi formally launched the service from Gandhinagar. Under this new system, citizens who become victims of cyber fraud will no longer need to visit a police station to register an initial complaint.
As soon as a complaint is registered on the 1930 helpline, the concerned case’s e-Zero FIR will be generated automatically and forwarded to the respective police station, enabling faster initiation of legal action. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi said that the State Government is continuously using technology to provide faster and more transparent police services to citizens. The ‘e-Zero FIR’ system will allow victims of cyber fraud to register complaints from home, while quicker action will improve the chances of recovering the lost money.
To ensure the effective implementation of this new system, Director General of Police Shri Gyanendra Singh Malik has instructed all field units to handle such cases with seriousness and sensitivity and to ensure speedy justice for complainants. IGP, Cyber Centre of Excellence, Shri Bipin Ahire stated that the e-Zero FIR process has been implemented in coordination with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He explained that based on cyber financial fraud complaints received through the 1930 helpline, the system will automatically generate a Zero FIR and forward it to the concerned police station. Thereafter, police officers will contact the complainant, obtain the necessary details, register the FIR as per the prescribed procedure, and immediately initiate the investigation. A resident of Ahmedabad became a victim of cyber fraud under the pretext of digital arrest. He registered the State’s first e-Zero FIR in the case, based on which the Cyber Crime Department took prompt action and successfully saved more than Rs. 15.76 lakh.
Principal Secretary of the Home Department Shri Sanjeev Kumar, State Director General of Police Shri G. S. Malik, and senior police officers from the Cyber Crime Cell were present in person at this launch event. Additionally, CEO of I4C Shri Rajesh Kumar, along with all Police Commissioners, Range Heads, Superintendents of Police, and Cyber Crime Police Inspectors of the state, joined virtually via GSWAN technology.
