Gandhinagar, April 27, 2026 — The Gujarat government has issued a major administrative order announcing widespread promotions and transfers among Secretariat Service officers. The decision, released by the General Administration Department (GAD), involves several Joint Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries who have been reassigned to new roles and departments.
According to the order, significant changes have been made across key departments including Narmada, Water Supply, Industries, Health, Rural Development, Education, and Revenue. Many officers have been shifted from their current postings to entirely new departments, while some have been entrusted with additional responsibilities.
Notably, important portfolios such as Industries and Mines, Health and Family Welfare, Finance, Urban Development, and Rural Development have witnessed major restructuring. The reshuffle is seen as a strategic move to enhance governance efficiency and accelerate departmental performance.
In a separate order, several Joint Secretaries have been promoted to the rank of Additional Secretary and appointed to new departments. Along with these promotions, revisions in pay scale have also been implemented, reflecting their upgraded responsibilities.
The government has directed all newly appointed and transferred officers to assume charge with immediate effect.
Officials believe that this administrative overhaul aims to streamline decision-making processes and bring greater momentum to governance across departments.
