A legal dispute involving Trinamool Congress MP and former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan has drawn sharp observations from the Gujarat High Court over the alleged occupation of a municipal plot in Vadodara.
During the hearing, the court questioned how possession of the land was taken despite the absence of final approval for its allotment. The bench indicated that failure to vacate the plot could result in financial penalties and further legal action. The court also signaled the possibility of an inquiry into the officials involved in the handover process.
The case stems from a 2012 proposal to lease the land to Pathan. However, the state government later rejected the proposal and directed that possession of the land be cleared.
