Ahmedabad: Voter turnout in Gujarat’s local self-government elections witnessed a significant rise by 5 PM, reflecting growing public participation in the democratic process.
As per initial estimates till 5 PM, the turnout stood at:
- Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation: 42.35%
- District Panchayats: 60.98%
- Taluka Panchayats: 61.87%
- Municipalities: 54.31%
Later updated figures showed a further increase in voting percentages:
- Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation: 45.35%
- District Panchayats: 65.40%
- Taluka Panchayats: 65.91%
- Municipalities: 59.85%
The steady rise in voter turnout throughout the day indicates heightened awareness and participation among citizens. Being a holiday and ongoing wedding season, more voters stepped out in the latter half of the day to exercise their franchise.
