Ahmedabad: in Gujarat assembly elections 2022 Congress got 17 seats out of 182 seats. Later Congress announced name of the leader of opposition. Amit Chavda, former president of Gujarat Congress and considered close to Bharatsinh Solanki, has been appointed as the Leader of Opposition. Amit Chavvada has been an MLA for last 5 terms in Gujarat. Now he has been assigned task of the leader of the opposition.
Madhavsinh Solanki and his family, who has the record of winning the most assembly seats in Gujarat politics, and his family have remained dominant in Congress. Madhavsinh Solanki’s son Bharatsinh Solanki has been President of GPCC Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee and subsequently the command of Opposition Leader in Gujarat was handed over to his family member Amit Chavda. Ex Pradesh Congress President Amit Chavda is maternal uncle of Opposition Leader Bharatsinh Solanki.
A notification by AICC All India Congress Committee General Secretary KC Venugopal was issued to GPCC President in this regard.
