Polling on July 30, Counting on August 3; Election Process Begins July 6
The Election Commission has officially announced the schedule for the by-election to the Manjalpur Assembly constituency in Vadodara, following the demise of BJP MLA Yogesh Patel, which left the seat vacant.
As per the announced schedule, the election process will formally commence with the publication of the Gazette Notification on July 6, 2026.
The last date for filing nominations is July 13, while scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on July 14. Candidates will have until July 16 to withdraw their nominations, after which the final list of contestants will be published.
Polling will be held on July 30, 2026, and the counting of votes is scheduled for August 3, 2026. The entire election process will be completed by August 4, 2026.
The by-election has been necessitated by the passing of veteran BJP leader Yogesh Patel, who had represented the Manjalpur constituency multiple times and was considered one of the party’s prominent leaders in Vadodara.
With the election schedule now in place, major political parties including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (Congress), and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have begun intensifying preparations, including candidate selection and campaign strategy.
The Model Code of Conduct has come into force with the announcement of the election schedule, and the district election administration has initiated preparations for smooth polling. Political attention is now focused on the announcement of candidates and the upcoming electoral battle in Manjalpur.
