The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across parts of Gujarat over the next four days, with weather conditions expected to intensify due to a strong pressure gradient.
Speaking on the forecast, A.K. Das, Director of the Meteorological Department, said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely across the Gujarat region from July 5 to July 7. He added that the department has classified its alerts using a colour-coded warning system, with red indicating extremely heavy rainfall, orange signifying very heavy rainfall, and yellow denoting heavy rainfall.
Das also cautioned that strong winds are expected to accompany the rainfall, driven by a steep pressure gradient, and advised residents to remain alert and follow official weather advisories.
The IMD is closely monitoring the evolving weather system, while authorities are expected to take precautionary measures in vulnerable areas to minimize the impact of heavy rain and gusty winds.
