Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called on Israel to immediately stop its airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.
Israeli planes strikes Palestinian militants and hits 50 militants targets, killing five Palestinians in coastal enclave. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was “removing the gloves” against Hamas, the Islamist movement that rules Gaza. 16 other were wounded in airstrikes.
Israel said its warplanes were aiming at military bases in civilian neighborhoods that were operated by Hamas. The airstrikes also targeted rocket launching sites in what it said was counter attack for the heaviest rocket fire from the area in 20 months.
