Big news regarding the elections of local bodies in Gujarat. Notification issued by the Election Commission was challenged in Gujarat High Court. It is the responsibility of all to see that fair and just elections are held. possibility expressed that free and fair elections will not be possible as per the circular of the Election Commission.
Submission by the petitioner that free and fair election process may be affected if District Panchayat and Taluka Panchayats are polled after the results of metropolitan elections. Petition also mentioned that the date of counting of votes for elections of local bodies should be kept the same.
Hearing on petition will be held in coming days.
