President of India Ram Nath Kovind visited Porbandar on Gandhi Jayanti
Today on Gandhi Jayanti, President of India Ram Nath Kovind visited Gujarat. He was accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Governor OP Kohli.
In morning President visited Bapu’s birth place Kirti Mandir, Porbandar. Declared ODF status for Rural Gujarat and launched Solid Waste Management project.
President laid down foundation stone for developing Mangrol Ph-III fishing harbor and inaugurated rural water supply scheme for 45 villages.

He re-iterated the significance of cleanliness and quoted example of Bapu, who used to clean things by himself. He also added that to maintain cleanliness is an individual’s responsibility.
Speaking at the launch of Mangrol fishing harbor president said that people of Saurashtra are known for their hard work. Out of goods coming through ship to India, 48 % goods come to India through ports of Gujarat.
He added that Gujarat is leading in Fisheries business and contributes upto 20 % from Gujarat. Launch of Fishing harbor and fish landing center will boost the economy of Gujarat.
