Today Gangster Atique Ahmed is to be transferred with police protection from Sabarmati central jail at Ahmedabad to UP Uttar Pardesh jail.
In Umesh Pal murder case, Gangster Atique Ahmed to be produced in Uttar Pradesh’s court soon.
Lawyer Umesh Pal, was killed in broad daylight in Dhoomanganj area of Prayagraj last month allegedly by associates of jailed former MP Atique Ahmed, was dropped from the witness list by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the 2005 Raju Pal murder case.
It is to be noted that CBI is the third agency to probe the murder of then BSP MLA Raju Pal after Prayagraj police and CB-CID. The trial is currently going on at a special CBI court in Lucknow. Jailed MP Atique Ahmed and his brother Ashraf are also the main accused in the 2005 murder case.
A CBI official said that Umesh Pal, 48, was listed as a witness by the UP Police during their investigation in the Raju Pal murder case. But when the CBI took over the probe in 2016.
According to information received to take Atique to produce in court by Prayagraj police in a crime of extortion and rioting was registered against Atique Ahmed in 2007. The matter will be heard on Wednesday. The court has ordered Atique Ahmed to be present for the hearing. So the Prayagraj Police of UP Uttar Pardesh has come to Ahmedabad to take Atique Ahmed. Paperwork is going on inside the jail now, after the completion of which Atique Ahmed will be taken to UP. Apart from this, he was also involved in Umesh Pal’s murder, so he may be arrested from UP in that case. Atique was brought to Sabarmati Jail in 2019. In June 2019, he was tranferred to Sabarmati Jail.
Supreme Court on 22 April 2019 ordered that Atique be shifted from Devariya Jail to a high security jail in Gujarat. Thirdly, Atique Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, imprisoned in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Jail, played a key role in the conspiracy. Ashraf is imprisoned in Bareilly Jail. While in jail, both of them were in touch with their friends only through WhatsApp calls. This explanation has been made by Alahbad High Court lawyer and Sadaqat Khan, who was involved in the murder, during interrogation. Prayagraj Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma said Sadaqat was arrested by the STF from Gorakhpur. He was about to flee to Nepal. Sadaqat was living illegally in room no-36 of Muslim Boarding Hostel of Allahbad University. The conspiracy to kill Umesh Pal was hatched in the same room. Even after a month of the Umesh murder case, five accused are still absconding, Umesh Pal was killed in Prayagraj on the evening of 24 February. Among the accused, Asad, son of the gang’s most wanted Atique, and his sharp shooter are still at large with the police. These people killed Umesh Pal with bullets and bombs as soon as he got down from the car after opening the door.
