Medium to Heavy Rains in Ahmedabad

Today in Ahmedabad, city experienced medium to heavy down pours during 6 to 11 am. In just 5 hours of morning spell, 11.86 mm of rain was received. Most parts of the city experienced rain. Low lying areas were water logged. Scenes of Traffic Jam were common in the city.

West and South West Zone received below 1 inch of rain.
 

3 days are crucial for Gujarat state as chances of BanasKantha type rains again. Medium to heavy rain has been forecasted for next 3 to 4 days in Gujarat.

In Ahmedabad, due to upper air cyclonic circulation formed, heavy rainfall expected in next 24 hours.

Today during 12 to 3 pm Ahmedabad received 32.20 mm rain. East zone received 26.33 mm and West zone received 39.38 mm of rain.

New west zone had 30.67 mm, central zone had 37.5 mm and north zone had 53.88 mm of rain. In south zone average 5.5 mm rain was received.

Heavy rainfall left Ahmedabad submerged. Domestic airport way waterlogged due to heavy rain. Runway affected by potholes, 6 flights kept on hold and only half runway was operational for over two hours until repair done. Flights delayed at Ahmedabad airport as heavy rains leave potholes on runway

3 sluice gates of Vasna Dam were opened upto 2 feet.

Heavy Rains in Ahmedabad: 4 inch rain in 4 hours

Since last night, almost for 12 to 13 hours it is heavily raining with thunder shower in Ahmedabad city. For next 24 hours, heavy rains are predicted.

Low lying areas are water logged with knee deep waters.

In east and west Ahmedabad, reports of water logging are coming from most areas including Bopal, Ghuma, Satellite, Vastrapur, Gota, Ghatloia, Usmanpura, Paldi, Vejalpur, Ranip, Akhbarnagar, Vatva, CTM, Maninagar, Khokhara, Nikol, Odhav and Naroda. Hatkeshwar circle is turned into an island. Vivekanand Nagar in Hathijan area is cut off from the city.

Waters have entered in the houses. Waters are going into gutter and returning back. 25 gates of Vasna barrage have been opened. Vasna barrage is at 128.75 meter height. Sabarmati River is already overflowing. Water from Sant Sarovar is released.

Ahmedabad bound flights to Delhi and Mumbai are cancelled.There is water on Airport run way. Airport Terminal is flooded.

Public Transport system and normal life in the city is disrupted. Roads have been submerged into water. People are stuck up in water logging.

Holidays have been declared in schools and colleges.

Vatva area received maximum 6.5 inch rain, followed by 6 inch rain in Maninagar. Odhav received 43.5 mm rain.

Underpass at Akhbarnagar and Mathakhali have been closed due to water logging.

In Ahmedabad district, in about 25 to 30 schools are under water of Dholka.

In wake of continued heavy rainfall in city AMC has appealed people to stay indoor.

Forecast predicts heavy rain in next 24 hours.

In Naranpura area, Jay Mangal bus stop turns into island.
BRTS bus service was discontinued due to water logging on the track.
In Khokhra Hatkeshwer, Khodiyar temple was submerged. Temple closed for darshan.

Water entered in the house of BJP Corporator Surekhaben Desai near Gor No Kuvo in Maninagar.

More houses and Chawl were water logged in Khokhra area.

Hatkeshwar to Bapunagar Ring Road under water.

Socities of CTM and Jashodanagar Punitnagar submerged.
In Ramol, Khanwadi lake overflows.
In Bhairawnath area, water entered in socities of Gopal Chowk, Jawahar Chowk, Alpa Park, Mamta Park and Surajmani. More than 1,000 people stranded in water.

In Memnagar area, Gokul Row House, Samrath Society, RMS Society water logged. Road from Vivekanand Chowk to AEC Office turned into river with 5 to 6 feet of water. Lot of vehicles down in water logging.
Vejalpur area: BAKERI CITY
In Gandhinagar during 5 to 6 am , Vatva received 55 mm, Maninagar 43 mm, Vejalpur 40 mm, Odhav 43.5 mm , Chakudiya Mahadev 37 mm, Viratnagar 37.5 mm and at other places average 25 mm to 30 mm of rain was received.
In Maninagar, Daxini underpass was closed. Water supply delayed during 6:30 to 8 am. In Isanpur, Millattnagar road under water.
