In a major political development in Gujarat, the BJP’s attempt to secure the President’s post of the Anand District Panchayat has reportedly suffered a setback after the nomination form of its candidate was rejected over allegations related to a false tribal certificate.

According to political sources, the controversy erupted during scrutiny of nomination papers for the reserved post, where objections were raised regarding the validity of the tribal certificate submitted by the BJP-backed candidate. Following examination, the nomination form was rejected by the authorities.

With the BJP candidate’s nomination cancelled, Congress candidate Mrs. Gauriben Tadvi is now set to be formally declared elected unopposed as the President of the Anand District Panchayat on Monday.
The development has triggered strong political reactions in the district, with Congress leaders calling it a victory for constitutional and tribal rights, while accusing the BJP of attempting to misuse reservation provisions through alleged fake documentation.
The incident has intensified political debate in Anand district and may further fuel discussions around scrutiny of caste and tribal certificates in local body elections across Gujarat.
