Ahmedabad, June 1, 2026: The population census process officially commenced across Gujarat on June 1, with Ahmedabad district also launching preparations for Census 2027. Ahmedabad In-Charge District Collector and District Development Officer Videh Khare outlined the district’s census implementation plan and preparedness measures.
Addressing the media, Mr. Khare stated that the district administration has completed all advance preparations, mapping exercises, and intensive training programs to ensure that the census is conducted smoothly, accurately, and transparently.
He informed that the census operations in Ahmedabad district have been finalized and organized across nine talukas and six municipalities. A total of 2,518 census blocks have been created for the exercise. To facilitate efficient field operations, the administration has appointed 2,460 enumerators and 399 supervisors across the district.
Mr. Khare emphasized that this census marks a significant milestone, as India is implementing a digital census for the first time. He appealed to residents to cooperate fully with census officials and provide complete and accurate information when enumerators visit their homes. Accurate data collection, he noted, will help strengthen future government schemes and public welfare initiatives.
The In-Charge District Collector also addressed citizens who choose the self-enumeration option. He requested that individuals who have completed self-enumeration share their Self-Enumeration ID with the visiting census official, enabling the administration to complete and validate their census records.
The district administration expressed confidence that with public participation and digital innovation, the census exercise will provide reliable demographic data essential for planning and development in the years ahead.
