Gandhinagar, June 1, 2026: The Gujarat Government has carried out a major administrative reshuffle, promoting and transferring 68 Gujarat Administrative Service (GAS) officers across the state. The orders were issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) and took effect immediately.
According to the notification, officers have been assigned new responsibilities in district collectorates, municipal corporations, development agencies, and key government departments in Gandhinagar. The reshuffle covers several districts, including Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Surat, Bharuch, Navsari, Kutch, Mehsana, and Anand.
A number of officers from the Selection Scale and Senior Scale categories have been entrusted with significant positions such as Additional Collector, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Director of District Rural Development Agencies (DRDA), and senior officials in the Stamps and Registration Department.
Among the notable appointments:
- Dr. B.S. Prajapati has been appointed as Additional Collector, Vadodara.
- J.K. Jegoda has been posted as Additional Director in the Office of the Commissioner of Geology and Mining, Gandhinagar.
- Y.B. Zala has been appointed as Additional Inspector General of Registration.
The reshuffle also includes changes in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). M.M. Joshi, who was serving as Additional Collector in the CMO, has been appointed as Chief Administrative Officer of the Gujarat Water Supply and Sewerage Board (GWSSB). Meanwhile, D.N. Rank has been assigned the role of Additional Collector in the Chief Minister’s Office.
The state government has also created several new de-novo posts, including new Additional Collector positions in Surat and Gandhinagar, as part of efforts to strengthen administrative efficiency.
Officials believe that the large-scale restructuring will bring fresh leadership, improve governance, and accelerate administrative decision-making at both district and state levels. All promotion and transfer orders have come into force with immediate effect.
