Ahmedabad, April 7, 2026: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Ahmedabad Rural Police arrested an accused involved in the illegal possession and sale of narcotic substances. Authorities recovered 64 grams of Mephedrone (MD), a banned synthetic drug, valued at ₹1,92,000.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior officials, including Inspector General Raghvendra Vats and Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Jat, as part of an intensified drive to eliminate drug networks and curb substance abuse among youth in the district.
Acting on specific intelligence, the SOG team led by Police Inspector S.N. Ramani conducted a raid at a farm shed located in Lavasa village near Lodariyal in Sanand taluka. The accused, identified as Nareshbhai alias Gopalbhai Koli Patel, was found in possession of the narcotic substance.
The seized material was examined in the presence of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) officials, who confirmed it to be Mephedrone, a prohibited drug under the NDPS Act. Following this, a case was registered at Changodar Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was storing and selling the banned drug for personal financial gain.
