Election Commission issues notification for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 and by-elections

Filing of nomination papers for Lok Sabha General Elections and Assembly By-Elections starts from today.General Elections of 26 Lok Sabha Constituencies and By-Elections of 5 Assembly Constituencies in Gujarat. Notification about Elections was issued by Election Commission. Appointment of 27 General Observers, 28 Expenditure Observers and 14 Police Observers in the State. Out of 4 lakh On Election Duty employees-officers will be given the facility to vote by post .

Election Commission of India has published announcement regarding the elections to be held in third phase under Lok Sabha General Elections 2024. According to which, filing nomination forms will start from today for General Elections 2024 for 26 Lok Sabha seats and by-elections for 5 Assembly seats in Gujarat.
Chief Electoral Officer P. Bharti said that election notifications have been published in Form No. 01 by Election Officers of 26 Lok Sabha Constituencies and 5 assembly constituencies namely Bijapur, Porbandar, Manavadar, Khambhat and Waghodia in Gujarat. So that till next date 19th April, 2024, nomination forms can be received and filled nomination forms can be submitted between 11 am and 3 pm on days other than public holidays.
Scrutiny of nomination forms will be conducted on April 20, 2024 at 11 am. Approved candidates can withdraw their candidature up to 3 pm on April 22, 2024 if they wish.First randomization of EVMs has been completed in presence of representatives of political parties in all the districts of Gujarat. EVM machines have been allocated from district level to Assembly Segment (AS) level. After finalization of the list of opponent candidates, the second randomization of EVMs will be conducted in presence of opponent candidates or their representatives and the General Observer appointed by ECI Election Commission of India.
Facility of voting by postal ballot will be made available for voting by According to the notification of Election Commission in this regard, instead of the facility of voting by post, they will be provided facility of voting at training venue itself. To ensure that no employee on election duty is deprived of voting, work is underway to issue Form-12 for postal ballot papers to more than 4 lakh employees on election duty, including police staff, drivers, conductors.
More than one lakh senior voters and more than 3.75 lakh disabled voters with 40 percent or more disability; Procedures are being made to issue the prescribed Form-12D to them and get back the filled forms so that they can vote from their homes if they wish.
As many as 12 states and districts have been notified by Election Commission of India to allow employees of essential services to vote by postal ballot. A meeting has been held with nodal officers at the level to explain method of voting by postal ballot. The process of providing them with the prescribed Form-12D for the same is in progress. 27 General Observers, 28 Expenditure Observers and 14 Police Observers have been appointed in the Election Expenditure Monitoring and Control.
Valuables worth Rs 6.54 crores in cash so far, through 756 flying squads operating in the state for election expenditure monitoring and control, Rs. 11.73 crores worth of 3.84 lakh liters of liquor, Rs. 45.37 kg of gold and silver worth Rs 27.62 crores, 564.49 kg of prohibited narcotics worth Rs 1.73 crores and other items worth Rs 39.20 crores including motorcars, motorcycles, cigarettes, lighters and inedible jaggery were found and a total of Rs 86.82 crore items were seized. 1,203 static surveillance teams have been activated across the state with the publication of the election notification.
