Today in big a statement under Rule-44 on the first day of seventh session of the 14th Legislative Assembly as the Leader of the Assembly, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani announced relief package of Rs 3,700 crores for farmers. In the current year also, in kharif season, in some talukas, as per the assessment of the survey conducted by the Department of Agriculture regarding the loss incurred as on 19th September, at the end of consideration by the State Government, 37 lakh hectares of 123 talukas in 20 districts will be benefitted. This relief package will provide benefit to 27 lakh farmer account holders in Gujarat. No matter how little land the farmer owns Rs. 5,000 assistance will be paid to every farmer.
Heavy rains in some talukas of Gujarat in August 2020 have resulted in flooding in farms causing damage to crops. With begining of monsoon, in the state this year there was a good and timely rain. In early stages, there was moderate rainfall and very good production conditions in all the districts of the state, but during the month of August, some talukas of state have received heavy rains and due to flooding in the fields, damage was reported to crops, mainly groundnut, cotton, paddy, sesame, Crops like millet, pulses, vegetables etc. were damaged.
Gujarat government was planning to give assistance to farmers in state in case of crop loss of 33 percent and more. In case of further crop damage, a maximum assistance of Rs. 10,000 per 2 hectares will be paid.
Portal for Online application for the assistance will be open from 1st October, cost of Online applcation will be borne by state government. Farmers will have to apply at the nearest E-Gram center. After approval process based on application, the amount of assistance will be credited directly to farmer’s bank account in Online manner.
