Elections are set to take place in various local bodies across Gandhinagar district, including two municipalities, three taluka panchayats, and one district panchayat, with extensive arrangements made by the administration to ensure smooth polling.
In the municipal elections, a total of 159 candidates will contest across 68 seats. Meanwhile, 171 candidates will compete for 70 seats in the taluka panchayats, and 69 candidates will contest 28 seats in the district panchayat.
The election machinery has been scaled up significantly, with 760 polling stations set up for the taluka and district panchayats, and an additional 132 polling stations for the municipalities.
The voter base is substantial, with 1,31,749 voters in the two municipalities, 5,90,921 voters in the district panchayat, and 4,47,122 voters in the taluka panchayats.
To manage the elections efficiently, a total of 4,873 polling staff and 1,408 police personnel have been deployed. Additionally, 106 zonal officers will oversee operations, supported by 104 designated routes for logistics and movement.

Special provisions have also been made to ensure accessibility and smooth conduct. A total of 343 wheelchairs will be available for voters in need, and 239 government vehicles will be used for election duties.
In terms of electronic voting infrastructure, 628 ballot units and 628 control units will be used across the three taluka panchayats. The district panchayat elections will utilize 858 ballot units and 858 control units, while the two municipalities will have 163 ballot units and 163 control units.
Authorities have emphasized that all necessary facilities will be provided for both voters and election staff to ensure a fair and efficient electoral process.
Vote counting for the three taluka panchayats will take place in Gandhinagar, Mansa, Dahegam, and Kalol. Counting for the two municipalities will be conducted in Kalol and Dahegam.
