PM Modi to addressed National Convention of Women Sarpanch

Today on account of International Women’s Day Prime Minister  Narendra Modi will address National Convention of Women Sarpanch at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

While addressing women sarpanchs at convention PM said by 2019, we will mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He always said India lives in the villages. Cleanliness is more important than political freedom. You can imagine the commitment he had towards cleanlines.

Today we are honouring Sarpanchs who have contributed immensely to the movement towards a clean India and have shattered so many myths. They have shown how a positive change has begun in rural India. We have to maintain the momentum which has developed towards cleanliness. And this momentum will have a very longstanding impact.I can see the determination to make a positive difference when I meet these women Sarpanchs. They want to bring a qualitative change.

‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ – guided by this Mantra we should bring about a big change.Female foeticide cant be allowed to take place. Villages with women Sarpanchs can play key role& show the way in ending female foeticide.A discriminatory mindset cannot be accepted. We are seeing how girls are shining in the board exams & so many other areas.Boys and girls- both should get equal access to education.Keeping in mind the requirements, we should try to invigorate our villages with technology. The difference will be phenomenal.Swachhata has to be become our Svabhaav. The poor gain the most when we achieve cleanliness and eliminate dirt.I congratulate those who have been honoured today. They inspire the entire nation.

PM Modi is on 2 days visit to Gujarat and attends various programmes in Gujarat at Dahej, Surat, Somnath and Gandhinagar.
