Blackbuck poaching case: Salman Khan gets 5-year jail term

Today Salman Khan was present in the Jodhpur court today along with his co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam. Salman Khan has been found guilty, and has been sentenced to 5 years in jail. The other actors have been acquitted. Actor was accused of killing two black bucks and was facing charges under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act.

Salman convicted under Section 9 and 51 of Wildlife Protection Act. Maximum sentence under the law is six years.Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act carries maximum punishment of six years and minimum one-year jail term. The prosecution has demanded maximum punishment for Salman Khan. Salman will be taken to Jodhpur Central Jail.

Quamtum of punishment to be pronounced in the afternoon at anytime.

Salman has been accused of killing two in Kankani village of Jodhpur during the shooting of “Hum Saath Saath Hain” movie. Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, and Tabu, who were the co-accused in the case.

All accused have arrived in Jodhpur. Salman, who has been shooting for Race 3 in Abu Dhabi appeared in the court of the chief judicial magistrate (Jodhpur Rural).

The trial of the case has been in progress for the last 19 years and Judge Dev Kumar Khatri reserved the order after the final arguments on March 28. If convicted Salman, who has been charged under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, may face six years imprisonment.

Salman Khan’s lawyear has appealed to reduce the punishment to actor, as Rs 1,000 crores have been invested in his upcoming films.

Salman is accompanied with his sisters Alvira and Arpita in Jodhpur.

Arguments of both the lawyers is over and magistrate will pronounce his decision on quantum of punishment.

We will appeal for suspension of sentence to the Sessions Court judge. We will inform the court about the threats Salman Khan has received from Jail said Salman’s Lawyer after announcement of punishment.
