GANDHINAGAR: In the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, all 44 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates contesting the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation elections collectively took a ‘Jan Seva Sankalp’ (pledge of public service) on Monday.
The pledge-taking ceremony was held near the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar opposite the Gujarat Legislative Assembly complex. The BJP candidates from all 11 wards pledged to keep citizens’ interests at the forefront and remain committed to the overall development of Gandhinagar.
According to a press release issued by the Gandhinagar city BJP media department, the candidates pledged to uphold civic duties and follow the Constitution and applicable rules and regulations. They also expressed their commitment to working with faith in Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Integral Humanism and the BJP’s stated organisational principles.
The candidates further pledged to support development-oriented governance and to work towards preserving and promoting India’s cultural heritage. They expressed their commitment to contributing through their actions, words and efforts towards the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Best India).
The candidates also pledged to contribute towards the peace, unity, development and civic pride of Gandhinagar, while engaging with citizens through public outreach, dialogue and service under the principle of ‘Nagrik Devo Bhavah’.
Under the slogan ‘Jan Seva Hi Prabhu Seva’ (service to people is service to God), the candidates pledged to work towards ensuring that the benefits of public welfare schemes of the Central and Gujarat governments reach people at the grassroots level.
The BJP candidates stated that public service would remain a priority in their proposed work for Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation.
The event was attended by Gujarat Cabinet Minister and minister in charge of the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation election Rushikesh Patel, Minister Sanjaysinh Mahida, BJP state secretary and Gandhinagar in-charge Nirav Amin, city BJP president Dr. Ashishkumar Dave, Mayor Meeraben Patel, MLAs Ritaben Patel and Alpesh Thakor, election in-charge Amit Shah, co-in-charge Jatin Patel, and other party leaders.
The Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation election covers 44 seats across 11 wards, with polling scheduled for October 11, 2026 and counting on October 13.
